In the year 2045, people can escape their harsh reality in the OASIS, an immersive virtual world where you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone-the only limits are your own imagination. OASIS creator James Halliday left his immense fortune and control of the Oasis to the winner of a contest designed to find a worthy heir. When unlikely hero Wade Watts conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends-known as the High Five-are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS and their world.
One thing I love about this movie after seeing at the Silverbird Cinema was the blending of virtual gaming world and reality. If you love virtual games then you should try seeing this movie, a 2 hours plus movie with so much interesting gaming experience from Tye Kayle Sheridan who acted the role of Wade Watts/Parizval. He gave a good performance in this movie though I never expected anything less than that. My best scene from this movie was when Overlook Hotel was simulated from THE SHINNING. Lena Waithe who acted as Helen Harris with the avatar Aech,(Parizval friend) got caught up in the drama of The Shinning, that took me back to the crazy horror movie and the story of Room 237
The movie has grossed $137milliion in the United States and Canada, and $445 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $582million. The production budget was $175million with about $150million more spent on global marketing costs, the film needed a total of $325million to break even which means they made a profit of $257million. Waaoooh that was awesome.
